Educational Objectives of the Department
The educational objectives of the Department are developed in accordance with Fo Guang University’s motto of “Righteousness, Integrity, Compassion, and Kindness,” and are grounded in the university’s educational philosophy of “Three-Life Education,” which emphasizes the integrated development of life, living, and career. Within the overall framework of educational objectives at the university, college, and departmental levels, the Department places strong emphasis on cultivating students’ sense of social concern and public service. Through comprehensive curriculum planning and diverse learning activities, the Department aims to nurture public affairs professionals who possess public spirit, professional competence, and international perspectives.
Based on this philosophy, the Department’s educational objectives are as follows:
1.To cultivate professionals with a strong sense of social concern and the ability to engage in public affairs practice.
Through courses and practical activities related to public policy, local governance, and public service, students are encouraged to pay attention to public issues and social development, thereby developing the capacity to participate in public affairs, respond to societal needs, and practice the spirit of public service.

2.To cultivate professionals with global perspectives, creative thinking, and leadership capabilities.
By integrating courses on international affairs and cross-cultural issues, the Department develops students’ ability to understand global political and economic trends. Diverse learning approaches are also employed to stimulate creative thinking and leadership potential, enabling students to enhance their competitiveness and influence in an increasingly globalized environment.

3.To cultivate interdisciplinary professionals with expertise in administrative management, international affairs, organizational marketing, and local revitalization.
Through interdisciplinary curriculum design and practice-oriented teaching, students are equipped with a solid foundation in administrative management and public governance, while also developing applied capabilities in areas such as international affairs, organizational communication, and local revitalization to address the diverse needs of contemporary governance and social development.

Through the implementation of these educational objectives, the Department aims to cultivate public affairs professionals with strong public spirit, interdisciplinary competence, and global perspectives, enabling them to contribute their expertise in government institutions, public organizations, and various sectors of society, and to promote social development and effective public governance.
