Core Competencies
Core Competencies of the DepartmentBased on the Department’s educational objectives and talent development orientation, a set of core competencies has been established to guide students’ learning and professional development. These competencies ensure that students progressively develop key abilities in public governance, policy analysis, international affairs studies, and social engagement throughout their academic journey.
The design of these competencies takes into consideration the developmental needs of the public affairs discipline, while integrating both theoretical learning and practical application. Through this framework, the Department aims to cultivate students with a strong public spirit, professional knowledge, and practical capabilities, enabling them to respond effectively to the challenges of future social development and the evolving environment of public governance.
The core competencies of the Department include the following five aspects:
1.Public Service and Social Engagement Competence
Students are expected to develop a strong sense of public service and social responsibility. By paying attention to public issues and social development, and through practical participation and community engagement, students enhance their ability to participate in public affairs and contribute to social practice.
2.Multidisciplinary Expertise and Technological Application Competence
Students are trained to integrate knowledge from public administration, international affairs, and other related disciplines, and to apply information technology and digital tools in public governance and policy analysis, thereby strengthening their professional capacity to address public issues.
3.Organizational Communication and Project Planning Competence
Students develop the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively within organizations, while also acquiring skills in the planning, design, and implementation of public or organizational projects, enhancing their practical capabilities in public institutions and social organizations.
4.Self-Directed Learning and Career Planning Competence
Students are encouraged to cultivate independent learning attitudes and abilities, while establishing clear career goals and professional development plans in accordance with their interests and areas of specialization.
5.Rational Analysis and Organizational Management Competence
Students develop rational analytical and critical thinking abilities to understand public policies and social issues, while also acquiring fundamental skills in organizational management and administrative operations to respond to practical demands in governance and organizational management.
